Have sold it to upgrade because of the 4 step buttonhole, decided I needed a 1 step buttonhole because of the number of buttons I do on reenactment clothing
Great machine except for that, had minor problems most were user error
Thread sometimes got oily from sitting in machine to long so had to make sure to take out thread when stopping for the day(never knew if it would be next day or not before I could get back to my project) and sew on scrap material before using on garment to clear the machine of any excess oil
Didn't handle really bulky layers very well
In the beginning had trouble getting thread tension set right but once I had it set and learned how to adjust it had no trouble
Great machine for beginners! Easy to learn basic techniques, just make sure you use proper needle for project type.
So happy with Singer product considering buying another Singer for upgrade.
Advice
- I would definitely buy this machine again. Had a great time using it. Easy to use and to learn the basics of sewing on. Wasn't afraid to let children (older but even younger children with supervision for their safety (moving needles) could use it) use it because it was so easy to use, and anything they messed up I could fix easily. Great machine to teach children on.
