What Model Singer Sewing Machine You Own/Owned?
Singer 301 I had my own Singer but liked the 301 much more.
How you obtained the machine? (gift, bought new, etc)
Originally was my mother's.
Approximate age of the machine
about 50 years. My repairman said it is one of the best machines out there
Approximate price paid for this machine?
$500.
What type of sewing you did/do with this machine?
Having 4 girls I made a lot of clothes: Sunday best dresses, playwear, doll clothes, plus I've made most of the drapes, etc. for our home. I am still using it today and it is a quiet, hard working machine.
What is your satisfaction level with this machine?
I've had a lot of other machines to sew on but I find the 301 and the 404 (which I just gave to a granddaughter) were my favorites.
When I was taking sewing lessons I sewed on very expensive machines but I would rather mine.
Advice
- Only adjust upper tension
- Upper threading and bobbin threading must be the same
- check needle often - is it right size for thread
- use Internet for help in troubleshooting
