At one time almost every home had a Singer Sewing machine. Over the years Singer sewing machines changed with the times and many people had trouble adjusting the the changes Singer made in their sewing machines. Please share what sewing machine model you own/owned and your experience with that machine so others know if they want to invest in a used sewing machine or if they would be better off saving toward a new sewing machine. Singer Touch and Sew 758
- I also have a Singer Touch and Sew, model 758. It does has some plastic gears in it, the sewing machine repairman told me this. It has the most wonderful ever, bobbin winding system. I so wish they still made them with this bobbin winding system. The best.

- I have only ever owned Singers. I learned to sew on a Singer treadle machine as a kid. (no, I am only 40 but what a way to learn!) I now use a 1960 model Singer and love. it. Mind you, this is the most modern sewing machine so far!!

Singer Touch & Sew Model 758
- My husband bought this machine for me for mother's Day in 1969. I used it for years making our daughter clothes. My mother used it and fell in love with it so we traded machines and she used it for the next 10 years. When God called her home I sadly got my machine back. It still runs beautifully and when I am using it I feel my mother is just a little closer.

Singer Touch & Sew Model 758
- I bought this machine in 1970 when I was pregnant with my first child. I made maternity clothes and a layette. Since then, I've made many, many baby & toddler clothes, prom dresses, Christmas gifts, home sewing, etc. Now I use it to make clothes for my grandchildren. This model is a sturdy workhorse, with metal cams (not plastic) to change the stitches. It's held up well; the back of the foot pedal is coming off but it still works. A repairman told me "they don't make sewing machines like this anymore." This machine was made at a time when quality workmanship was valued & important, that's why it's held up for 40+ years.

- I got this sewing machine in 1970 when I was pregnant with my first child. I made my maternity clothes and a layette. I've used it for my 2nd child's clothes and now for grandchildren, prom dresses, and home sewing. It has metal cams to change the stitches, not plastic. It is a workhorse. I still have it and it works fine. The foot pedal back is cracked but it still works. This was back when quality was in the workmanship.

Singer Touch and Sew
- I have had several Singer machines since we were married in 1954. The first was a 1591 that I traded for the Touch and Sew which I still occasionally use. It is one year newer than my second daughter! The machine was used by me for many years until I bought a Creative Touch which that daughter now has. The Touch and Sew was used by both daughters and is mine again. I have a Babylock Esante sewing/embroidery machine that I use most of the time. I have loved all my sewing machines.

Singer XL5000
- I had a Singer XL100 and used it all day most days. Was wonderful to use. Then I had to store it where it got too much heat and I had to have the computer screen replaced. Shipped it by UPS. On its way back they really damaged it so bad and did not want to give me any money. Finally settled and I bought an XL5000. It is a lot of machine to learn, but it will do almost anything if you can master it. A little at a time is my approach. Love the embroidery and other stitches it has. So far it is doing good. Just have not had the opportunity to use it as much as I would like. Hope to more starting soon. Would love to hear what others think of theirs.

Singer Touch and Sew
- This was a strong machine. It used cams to create special stitches. The motor eventually burned out when I tried to mend a tent.

Singer Model 503A
- This is a fantastic, strong, durable machine. The machine has three needle positions and a built in zigzag stitch.
