Hand Needle Felting

By March 29, 2007

Follow me on:

I was drawn into hand needle felting this week. First, Dalhia Cavazos shared pictures of her BEAUTIFUL hand needle felting and her experiences with felting wool. I love shopping at her favorite place to find wool sweaters... a great place for bargain fibers!

Then my Mom purchased hand needle felting tools and stopped over to share how they work. Her having hand tools gave us a whole new reason to share supplies and an opportunity to experiment. She even discovered a polyester Easter grass at the dollar store that would felt. I must admit that doing needle felting by hand makes more dimension possible but I love the speed of felting and creating with the Janome Xpression Needle Felting Machine

I know I'm going to be making up a bag of hand felting tools and projects to leave in the car so I have something to work on when I'm waiting to pick up my daughter.

Just in case I wasn't ready to experiment with hand needle felting, The Martha Stewart Show featured making hand felted chicks this week. These chicks were adorable and I can't wait for my hand felting tools to get here so I can try my hand at making them. If you missed the show, there is an online video available on her Tuesday, March 27, 2007 Show links. I've added hand needle felting pictures and tool information to the Needle Felting Examples and Information Gallery

I too started needle felting with the Janome Xpression, and just this week took a hand needle felting class. I enjoyed it, but still preffer the speed of the machine, as I have very little free time, and I need to make the time I have count for as much as I can.
