If you are sewing school clothes, your kids don't want them to look homemade. Owning a serger is one way to replicate manufactured clothing but there are many more reasons to want a serger. The one thing I will say is that you want to know what you are buying and the options available before you go shopping and jump on the first "deal"... that bargain is not a bargain if it doesn't meet your needs!
