If you have been following the lessons from the beginning, you know of our pattern choice delima. It is humanly impossible for me to cover a few patterns at the same time and do the lessons justice. So as "hard nosed" as it may seem, I have choosen Stretch And Sew Pattern 2000 - Ann Person Collecibles Classic Robes Pattern. There are very similar robes avaialble from other companies and you may choose to purchase one of those, however the step by step directions to this lesson will follow the Stretch And Sew Pattern. Strech And Sew has assured me that they can get enough of this pattern for all of us and has generously given me permission to use their images to detail the lessons.
The pattern comes with small, medium and large in one pattern. We will go into choosing your size a bit later in this lesson. Your first choice to make is the view. This pattern has a shawl robe and a banded robe. We are going to take the banded views for this lesson.
The pattern envelope picture, shows you many things. First you will notice that there are three different length options offered.
Then note that there are 3 pockets on each robe. One of the beauties of sewing is that you get to make choices to have the garment be what you want it to be. Just because the pattern shows three pockets doesn't mean you have to sew all three pockets, but you can. Take note of the mens robe. Notice the embellishment on the top pocket. Embellishing is another option that is your choice.
Now notice the sleeve lines. This is not a set in fitted sleeve, but are a dropped shoulder, 3/4 length sleeve. This is a rather simple sleeve to set in and should not cause a problem for even the most inexperienced sewer.
Your first purchase for this lesson will be the pattern. This pattern can be purchased on line from the pattern page or purchased from a local source. Please understand that I am not affiliated with any pattern company and have no control over your order so be sure to bookmark or print any order information. When I ordered the pattern, I received it with in a week and was very pleased with the service.
Now that we have examined the front of the pattern, let's explore the back of the envelope and what we will need to purchase.
