I always get a little fold of extra fabric at the top when I sew a fly-front zipper. How can I solve this problem?

When the center front edge of the fly is held taut, the fold disappears.


Just before applying the waistband, trim 1/8" to 1/4" from the waist edge on the zipper overlap side, tapering gradually to the original edge (2). Apply the waistband, making sure both sides line up at the waist edge. Pull the waistband snugly closed to mark the placement for a button or hook-and-eye closure.
