Take the time to pin a seam before you sew. Pinning a seam takes care of holding the fabric together, leaving you free to concentrate on controlling the sewing machine. When a seam is pinned properly you prevent damaging your sewing machine.

Lay the pieces of fabric on a flat surface and line up the ends of the seam and the edges of the fabric.
