Details for Embroidery
  • Mark the center of the spine, horizontally and vertically to "label" the binder cover with the subject before you do any of the construction. Center the label on the spine area.
  • The globe design shown here is the World In Hands design from Embroidery Library
Details for a denim pocket
  • Cut a square 6 1/2" by 5 1/2". Trim the bottom, to a point cutting, 1" from the bottom of the 5 1/2" sides to the center.
  • Turn under 1/2" on each 4 1/2" edge. Turn under 1/2" on each pointed edge.
  • Turn under 1" on the top edge.
  • Top stitch the top hem in place.
  • Center the pocket on the front of the cover before doing any construction.
  • Top stitch the pocket in place. The denim example shown here was sewn with a double needle so that the hems were enclosed in the bobbin thread.
Option Edge Stitching
  • After all of the construction is sewn, before turning the cover the right side out, top stitch the seam to the outer cover working around the cover sewing only the outer and seam allowance together. Due to the tight corners you must have full control of your sewing machine and experience to keep the stitching straight. I would not recommend this optional stitching for a beginner.
