Many costumes have tie closures that leave a long gap open under the tie. Here's a simple way to close that long opening without sewing in a zipper or eliminate a zipper using this method.
  • Buy half inch wide hook and loop tape (Velcro).
  • Sew the hook and loop tape to the seam allowances.
  • Press back one seam allowance and top stitch the seam allowance to the garment.
  • Close the garment using the hook and loop tape instead of a zipper.
  • If you're out of time, use sticky backed hook and loop tape as a quick costume closure.
