Definition: Clean finish is to turn under 1/8" to 1/4" of the raw edge of fabric and then stitch close to the folded edge. A tightly woven fabric that is not prone to a lot of fraying would only need 1/8" turned under. A loosely woven fabric that frays easily would need 1/4" turned under.
Also Known As: Turned-and-stitched
Alternate Spellings: Clean finished
Examples: I want smooth edges on the inside of the garment so I am going to clean finish the seam allowances.
