Sewing Machine Power Cords

What the Power Cord Does:

  • The power cord feeds electricity to the machine. The power cord should always be tightly connected to the sewing machine for a consistent flow of electricity.

All Power Cords Are Not The Same:

  • Some power cords are directly wired to the machine. Some are removable for storage.

  • Only use the power cord that came with a machine on that machine! If you are every short a power cord, do not interchange cords. Verify that the correct amount of electricity will be fed to the machine with a knowledgeable machine dealer.

Safety Concerns Associated with Power Cords:

  • Always check the coating on the cord for cracks or peeling. Never use a cord with exposed wires.

  • If you find that the power to the machine is interrupted when you bump the power cord, check for a tight connection to the machine and for noticeable bends or kinks in the wire. If the problem is not resolved by a solid connection to the machine, it is advisable to have the machine and cord checked by a repair service.

  • A surge protector is an excellent way to protect your equipment from unexpected power surges. Just as you would protect your computer, protect your sewing machine.
