What project you are sharing?
chef's hat
How long did it take you to sew the project?
about 4 hours, total (including the parts I did wrong and had to redo!). Part of what took so long was adding the strip with the words, "Happiness is in the kitchen," which is what's on his apron, only in French. He wanted it translated to English. LOL
Tips and Tricks
- I don't have a serger, and I didn't know if my machine would zigzag the seam where the top and the band were sewn together, so I top-stitched when I was done.
- I also turned the velcro the other way from what the pattern suggested, because I had added the strip of accent fabric and the velcro wouldn't go the proper way. I had to measure the hat to my husband's head and sew the velcro in up/down instead of across, which actually worked out very well.
- the next one I make I think I'll add some interfacing to the crown so it will stand up more; my husband likes this one as is, though.

Love it Linda! Thank You SO much for sharing. The Embroidery is a great idea! I see names embroidered on the hats I make in the future! (Now if I could just get my husband in the kitchen... although the three times he did cook we decided he shouldn't do it again ....Free Chef's Hat Pattern
