What project you are sharing?

The Insulating Soda Can Wrap, using a different material.

I used some scrap material that my husband would like to make his soda can wrap.

How long did it take you to sew the project?

The soda wrap took me about thirty minutes to complete with cutting out of the fabric and lining.

It took me a little longer for the ones I made my father, who has MS, with a little twist to them.

It is harder for my father to feel and grip his soda can. Therefore I combined the "Insulating Soda Wrap," and the "Insulated Bottle Holder" to make his. You can find them on About.com To do so I inserted a section of a product that has little bumps on it, like found on the feet of toddler sleepers to keep from slipping.

Also added a bottom to the wrap. It would have been hard for him to secure the wrap and he can just slip the can into the ones I made.

Sorry I do not have a picture of these, as they were a gift and sent to him.

Tips and Tricks

  • Sew as instructed in the About.com site under "Insulating Soda Can wrap," and took the idea of the "Insulated Bottle Holders".
  • For the twist, add a section of non slid material with bumps on it (Jiffy Grip).
  • Instead of one long section you will have 2 sections about 10" and adding a seam allowance at top of wrap.
  • Divide front section of wrap in thirds adding seam allowance on both sides of material. Cut grip 1/3 to insert in middle with added seam allowance on both sides. Sew front sections together to make one long section.
  • Sew Front, padding, Back together at the top.
  • Follow Bottle Holder instructions.
