Crafts (leather, canvas) and clothing repair.
What is your satisfaction level with this machine?
I still need to get some opinions before I invest too much money and/or effort with this machine. It needs a thorough cleaning, but it does run (although I wouldn't run it long before cleaning and oiling).
It appears to be a well designed, heavy duty home machine for about 90% of a person's needs. I have a Slantomatic 301a I've been using for several years--it's a beautiful machine, but was not built for heavier fabrics and materials
Advice
- Generally, the older mechanical machines in a number of product categories were built to endure.
- Metal quality in older machines much superior to plastic found on nearly all new machines.
- I was a computer programmer before becoming disabled, and I won't belittle the functionality of a computerized machine. However, we all know that computer hardware and software has a built in obsolescence.
